City of Winfield Wastewater Treatment Operator Individual will report to Public Works Director/Wastewater Plant Manager in operating and maintaining technical devices, pumps, instruments, and treatment equipment to control the processes and monitor the plant to ensure discharge compliance, and the maintenance and repairs of city streets. Essential Job Functions of Wastewater Treatment Operator: • Operates and maintains wastewater treatment, sludge processing, and handling equipment. • Collects samples and makes routine chemical analyses of wastewater at various points in the plant process. • Performs routine plant rounds to inspect plant processes and equipment for proper operating conditions. • Reads and interprets charts, flow meters and other gauges to determine operating efficiency of equipment. Adjusts operational processes for effective treatment to maintain or achieve discharge compliance. • Replacing street signs, paving/pothole repair, replacing sewer lines, checking pump stations and various activities related to city maintenance. • Other duties as assigned (ie. Cemetery, community center, park and boat ramp)
Applicant must have a High School Diploma or GED, must be able to successfully pass a drug screen, background check, possess a valid West Virginia driver’s license with a safe driving record, and possess a WV Class I or higher Wastewater Certification. The position is full-time- 5 days a week/8 hour shifts with occasional overtime built in.

Starting Pay is based on qualifications and experience.

MAYOR
Mayor Barrett has lived in Winfield for 41 years and has been married to Judy Rumbaugh Barrett for 39 years. They have three children, Megan, Chelsey, and Wesley with 5 grandchildren, Barrett Grace, Madison, Brooklyn, Jackson, and Caroline. They are very proud of all of them. Mayor Barrett is a member of Cross Point Church located in Winfield and is the President of the West Virginia Municipal League. Mayor Barrett was named Mayor of the Year at the league’s 48th Annual Conference.
Police Chief Jeff Losh joined our department December 19, 2022. We welcome him to our city. Chief Losh’s goals are to ensure that all Winfield Officers are the best trained, most fit and equipped possible. Keeping Winfield safe and having open communications with the citizens of Winfield is the main goal.

$ 100.00/day (Out-of-town residents $150/day)
FRIDAY, SAT & SUN
$ 200.00/day (Out-of-town residents $250/day)
PLUS a $ 250 Refundable Security Deposit which includes $ 100 cleaning fee; if there are no damages to the Center and if cleaning is completed to our satisfaction, it is refunded.
** 4-HOUR RENTAL IS AVAILABLE AND IS HALF OF THE COSTS SHOWN ABOVE – SECURITY DEPOSIT REMAINS THE SAME.
501C3 CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS:
Center will be reserved for 501C3 organizations on Monday – Thursday.
Rental is free to 501C3s on Monday – Thursday, but we ask for a donation of paper products (paper towels or toilet tissue). On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 501C3’s will pay $50.00 rental.
Churches
Must pay regular rental rate (because of separation of church and state).
Deposit: $100 ANNUAL deposit (which would be forfeited if there is damage or if building is not cleaned to our satisfaction) and they must provide their 501C3 Certificate.

Winfield City Park & Boat Ramp
Winfield’s first city park is now complete. The park is located at the end of Garfield Street next to the Winfield Community Center and includes two boat play structures and a tot play structure in a fenced play area, a canoe/kayak/paddleboard launch, bicycle rack and new park benches and trash receptacles. The basketball court is finished and already being enjoyed. The picnic shelter is finished and a new smaller dock has been installed near the city park. We are excited to offer this new park to our community for all to enjoy and hope you will visit the park soon. A second shelter has been built next to the community center. Please come and enjoy!!
